Biotech Production Unit Leader (Deputy Head)

Main responsibilities:

The PU Leader has responsibility in helping the team align and execute the strategic plan with the leadership team vision to consistently deliver high quality products to customers in a compliant, efficient and cost effective manner and make the plant more competitive in the marketplace.

In addition, the PU Leader will:

• Translate objectives from the leadership team into an actionable strategic plan
• Coordinate and facilitate team decision making, planning and execution to achieve strategic objectives
• Work with Production Head to establish team objectives, direction and priorities
• Drive team objectives, directions and priorities
• Drive lean production, preventive action and continuous improvement programs
• Prepare and/or assist in preparation of team business cases (CAR)
• Prepare and participate in Health Authorities inspections
• Lead and/or participate in team member hiring
• Formulate and/or reformulate KPIs to align with strategic objectives
• Foster and support a high performance team work environment
• Lead and facilitate team meetings
• Foster and support cross-training to further drive efficiencies
• Meet quality, customer service, compliance, GMP and regulations

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree, Master degree or PhD, preferably in engineering, biological or physical sciences.
• Master degree in business administration (eg, MBA) is beneficial.
• A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the biotech manufacturing including leadership and management roles.
• In depth knowledge of pharmaceutical production concepts and operations, GMP and other regulatory requirements.
• Specific experience with microbial fermentation and purification processes highly desirable.
• Knowledge of long- and short-term planning techniques for the development, achievement, and maintenance of excellence in department operations.
